Zil-Hajj 1439, My husband Khozema was called for Hajj.

I saw a picture in a National Geographic magazine once upon a time, and remember thinking ‘This place is magical and unreal. I don’t think I will ever get the chance to go there ever.’
He said. The impossible realized. Below are the photos from National Geographic he recalled.

A Guide To Hajj

A Little History Lesson

How to prepare
  • Take account of your deeds, incidents of his life and take all efforts to close all affairs before you leave. Should you be blessed in such a way and not return, you will have comfort in knowing that you did not leave open affairs. Financial and emotional.
  • Find your inner calm. Purify yourself and clean your heart, spirit and self to the highest levels of inner peace. When you are there, you are stripped to the state in which you will return to Allah while challenged with first world problems. Be mindful and present to where you are, why you came, and Who made it possible.
  • You will need two to three sets of Ihraam. If you are deciding between the cotton sheet versus the cotton towel, my husband believed that the towel Ihraam stayed on more secure than the sheet one.

Masjid al-Haram

Below is a map of the Masjid al-Haram complex.

    • The Holy Ka’aba. The House of Allah and the birth place of Imam Ali b. Abi Taalib [AS]

    • Hajr al-Aswad (The Black Stone)
    • Maqam Ibrahim. It is said that one can make duaa for their 3ailah here. Below are Quraan exerpts to serve as your duaa focus:
      • Surah As-Saffaat, verse 100
      • Surah Ibrahim, verse 40
      • Surah Al-Furqan, verse 74
      • Surah Al-Imran, verse 38
    • Well of Zamzam. Watch this short video about the science studies conducted on the purity and faithfulness of Zam Zam water.
  • Mizabe Rahmah (water outlet of mercy): the golden trough (water channel) between Rukn Iraqi and Rukn Shami
  • Hatwim. According to the book “Adabul Haramain“, this is the place between the door of the Ka’aba and Hajar al-Aswad. It is called Hatwim “the smasher” because it smashes major and minor sins of one who seeks forgiveness here. It is said that this is the place where Adam [a] was forgiven.
  • Rukn al-Aiman (the right-hand side corner of the Ka’aba). This is opposite the Black Stone behind the House. The Prophet [SAW] said “Whenever I come at this point, I find Jibril is already there before me.” Imam al-Sadiq [AS] said: “Rukn al-Aiman is our gate to Paradise”. He also said: “In this place is one of the doors of Paradise that has never been closed since it was opened. There is a river from Paradise in which deeds of the servants are dropped.” Also called Rukn al-Junubi. It comes before the Black Stone corner.
  • Rukn Shami/Gharbi. This is the corner of the Ka’aba that comes after Hijr Ismail
  • Rukn al-Sharqi. This is the corner where Hajar al-Aswad rests.
  • Mustajar: This is just before Rukn Yamani whilst walking from Rukn Shami to Rukn Yamani. During Hajj, an unexpected storm hit Makkah, KSA on August 19th, 2018. The storm’s strong winds exposed a hidden door on the Kaaba behind the Kiswah.
  • Mount Safa. When going to Safa for Saii, use the same door that the Prophet [SAW] used, which is Bab as-Safa, opposite the Black Stone.
  • Mount Marwa
